Today’s Birthday Spotlight: Celebrating Dua Lipa’s Special Day!

Dua Lipa was born in London on August 22, 1995 (age 29), to Albanian parents from Kosovo. Music was in her blood; her father, Dukagjin Lipa, was a musician himself, which influenced her early on. As a child, Dua took singing lessons and was inspired by artists like Pink and Nelly Furtado. When she was 11, her family moved back to Kosovo, but she returned to London at 15, determined to pursue a career in music.

While in London, Dua attended the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she honed her singing and acting skills. However, breaking into the music industry wasn’t easy. To support herself, she worked as a waitress and even modeled for a time. During this period, she began posting covers of songs on YouTube, showcasing her unique voice and gaining a small but dedicated following.

In 2015, Dua signed with Warner Bros. Records, marking the start of her professional music career. Her debut single, “New Love,” was released in August 2015, followed by “Be the One,” which became a hit across Europe. This early success set the stage for her self-titled debut album in 2017, featuring global hits like “New Rules,” which catapulted her to international stardom.

Recently, Dua Lipa has been making waves not just in music but also in fashion and film. She made her acting debut in the 2023 film “Barbie,” showcasing her versatility as an entertainer. Additionally, she’s been working on her highly anticipated third studio album, expected to explore new sounds and solidify her place as one of pop music’s leading figures. Her influence continues to grow, both on and off the stage.
