Jennifer Love Hewitt from 9-1-1 came up with the idea for the upcoming episode set at the Bachelor Mansion, which totally makes us adore her even more.
“So, Jennifer Love Hewitt called me up after she went to one of The Bachelor finales,” spilled 9-1-1 boss Tim Minear to Entertainment Weekly in an interview. “She’s a massive fan of The Bachelor and she was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome if the 118 got a call at the Bachelor mansion?’”
In the Thursday, April 4 episode, 9-1-1, the show about emergency responders, will get a call from none other than The Bachelor host Jesse Palmer. The official promo shows a contestant gluing herself to the driveway in front of the mansion. Bachelor Joey Graziadei even makes an appearance, looking all concerned after Palmer rings up the paramedics.
In the sneak peek, Maddie (played by Hewitt) and Josh (Bryan Safi) are the 9-1-1 operators who take the call. And after they hang up and send help, they totally fangirl with each other.
Minear explained that he pitched Hewitt’s idea to ABC, the network for both 9-1-1 and The Bachelor. (Hewitt, a huge fan of The Bachelor, even attended the Golden Bachelor “After the Final Rose” special in December 2023.)
“I got in touch with ABC and they reached out to the Bachelor people, and we had a Zoom chat,” Minear recounted. “We brainstormed about what we could do. The Bachelor team was incredibly supportive and helpful. They even offered to show us how they make the show, and then we filmed it.”
He added, “We actually had the Bachelor crew come in to shoot the first part of that case, so it really felt like The Bachelor. And then we switch to 9-1-1 world when they have to call 9-1-1. It just felt like a great idea.”
While Palmer and Graziadei will be part of the 9-1-1 action, the other contestants will be played by actors. Graziadei’s season ended on Monday, March 25, with his engagement to Kelsey Anderson.
“With Kelsey … you go back to the last time she really started expressing things, almost back to Montreal,” Graziadei spilled to Us Weekly earlier this month. “We were going a lot of off feelings, but there wasn’t really words being exchanged, so I did hold it in for a while. We both agree [that] when she was falling in Montreal, I was falling too. … I never said it to her because I wanted to be intentional with my words.”
Don’t miss 9-1-1 on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET!
